Organ Recitals
Since our organ recital series
began in October 2000 I have been most grateful for the support
and encouragement shown by so many who regularly enjoy the
"Willis experience" here at St. Dominic's Priory.
An attractive colour brochure containing information about
our recitals for 2006 is now available. All concerts are free
(admission by donation) and begin at 7:30pm.
We continue to enjoy a great many concerts each month given
by
internationally distinguished performers who all show what
a magnificent instrument this is, also demonstrating the high
level of playing available to London audiences today. Our
only regret is that more people do not attend these concerts,
perhaps because St. Dominic's is not in a popular tourist
area. However, the enthusiasm shown by everyone I have spoken
to suggests, as we continue to offer monthly recitals, that
a larger group of followers will soon our regulars to enjoy
the unique sound of Henry Willis' masterpiece-organ for themselves.
At the moment our advertising is limited to local newspapers,
London magazines, organ-journals and handbills. Any further
support or ideas you may feel able to contribute will be greatly
appreciated and will be for the benefit of the organ at large.
The forthcoming concerts will continue to demonstrate the
many varied colours of this organ and it's most suitable repertoire
at the hands of some extraordinary players. I hope you will
be able to join us for at least some of the events in our
future series and look forward to seeing you in The Lord Southampton
for refreshments after each one.
If you know anyone who might be interested joining our mailing
list to receive information from us in the future, please
let me know. Leaflets are available at the door of St. Dominic's
Priory at all times and are free to be collected in any quantity.
Best Wishes,
Martin Stacey
