Parish Events and Notes
Changes of weekday Mass location:
Monday 19th to Friday 23rd Mass at 7.30am & 9.30am will be in the Parish Hall as the re-wiring work continues. The 6pm Mass will be in the church.
Rewiring the Church.
This work has begun and for a period it is likely that through the day the Church will need to be closed. Most of the wiring that has to be taken out and replaced is high in the Church on the gantry, above the heads of anyone below. On days when the Church is closed Mass at 7.30am and at 9.30am, and Morning Prayer at 8am will take place in the Church Halls. We hope the 6pm Mass and Evening Prayer will be in the Church as much as possible. On Saturdays and Sundays the Church will be open as usual. We are sorry that you will not have access to your Church on some days in July. But the rewiring is absolutely necessary and the closures will allow the work to be done safely and quickly. |
Patients in the Royal Free Hospital
To ensure that the Royal Free's Catholic Chaplain (Fr Dominic Ryan) knows that you or a relative is an in-patient and would like a visit, please leave a message at 0207 830 2742. The hospital doesn't provide Fr Tim with a list of Catholic patients, so a message to the chaplaincy office is the best way to let him know someone is there.
However, if it is an emergency, please ask the ward staff to page the Catholic Chaplain and he will be there as soon as possible.
Next Baptism Course
Sunday 19th September, in the Priory at 3.30 pm.
The Pope's Visit in September.
There are two events that our parish expects to receive an allocation of tickets for. We don't know how many tickets yet. We would like to know of parishioners who would like to go to one or other of these events if a ticket is available. If more parishioners of St Dominic's would like to go than we have tickets, we propose to have a ballot.
SATURDAY 18th September
in the afternoon in London at Hyde Park. It will cost £10 to take part and participants will be expected to travel there, and remain at the event, as part of a deanery group. Security considerations make this a necessary condition of taking part.
SUNDAY 19th September.
The Beatification Mass for Cardinal Newman in Birmingham. This will involve a very, very early departure from London and it will cost £25. Again remaining with the deanery group throughout the journey and also the event is a condition of taking part. Security arrangements demand this.
If you would like to go to one or other of these events, please give your name and contact details to Fr David.
Annual Art Exhibition
This year's Annual Art Exhibition will be on Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th October. There will be children's and adults' sections, and a photographic competition open to all. For the adults' section we need paintings, drawings, etchings, sculpture and craftwork. As always, new exhibitors will be warmly welcomed. Entry forms and further details
